Stewardships and Spiritual Gifts
Without knowing the audience that might stumble across this page, I can safely say that the majority of the readers of this enjoy receiving gifts. When we receive gifts, either expected or unexpected, we tend to feel special inside knowing that someone has thought enough of us to bring us a gift. Let’s consider the gift that God has waiting for you.
Let’s think about this gift a minute; It’s something once accepted you can never give away. This gift is not something you can earn, it’s not something you can buy, yet it is the most valuable gift you will ever receive.
Accepting God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ isn’t a one time gift, it is the beginning of a journey that you will explore your entire life. Once you begin your spiritual journey, you will face many trials and hardships. Through each one God will be there with you, to hold your hand and guide you. That is not saying that you will not fall or fail, but that our Lord will be there to reach out his hand to help you get back up.
Today, ask yourself, “Am I being a good steward of the spiritual gift God has given me?” What is being a “good steward” really mean? Let’s explore this a bit more. Do you present and cultivate a Christlike character in your community, in your circle of friends and within your family? Does your behavior glorify God and point people to Jesus? Does your actions make people want to know more about Jesus and how he is working in your life?
How you answered those questions can help you in determining if you are being a “good steward” of God’s gift to you. Remember that only through the gift Jesus gave when he died on the cross, the gift he imparted on each of those who accept, will unlock the keys to the Kingdom of God. You can’t get there through works, through being a “good person”, but only through His Grace. If you haven’t already, accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour today. Through Him all things are possible!
